Be responsible, stop showing off!
Bollywood stars slammed for Maldives pictures amid COVID-19
Celebs are easy targets for trolls but this time many agree with them for calling out the actors who are busy flaunting their holiday pictures, telling the world what a fabulous time they are having when many others are suffering with the corona pandemic.
Some have lost their loved ones, some lost their jobs/livelihood, the situation is very scary. So least one can do is be socially responsible citizens and not show-off to the world that you are not affected by these trying times.
Reacting to Alia-Ranbir’s vacation, one twitter user said, “Coronavirus cases are increasing in India and then people like Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will blame a common man for increasing positive cases. They are going to the Maldives and then will advise others to stay home.”
Another commented, “Instead of helping the poor or raising awareness, you guys are going on holiday.”
“What fine examples these stars are setting!!" commented yet another internet user. Another one wrote, "We are in pandemic and people are dying but these people have no shame."
SHOBHA DE REPOSTED A COMMENT
“For all of you vacationing in Maldives, Goa and exotic locales, remember, it’s a holiday for you. It’s a bloody pandemic all over. So don’t be an insensitive idiot and post pictures of your priviliged life. You are not only coming across as brainless but also completly blind and tone dead. This is not the time to boost your instagram numbers. This is the time to step up and help and if you can’t do anything, then shut up and stay home. or stay quiet in your holiday home, masked up. No photos. This is not fashion week or Kingfisher calender time!”
SHRUTI HAASAN
In a recent interview with The Quint, actor Shruti commented that actors flashing their privilged lifestyles during such distressing time is not responsible behavior. “Glad they had a great holiday, they deserved it. I did not personally feel it was a time to go maskless in a pool. It has been a tough time for everyone and for some people much more. I think gratitude and being thankful for privileges is what is most important to know versus throwing your privileges in people’s faces.”
