Shiv Sena slams PM’s advice on lockdown
The Shiv Sena Thursday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for suggesting states to use lockdown as a last report during the pandemic. Despite restrictions, Covid cases in several states of the country are rising rapidly and a strict lockdown is the only option left to curb the spread, the party said.
Mr Modi in a nationwide address had said that the lockdown should be the ‘last resort.’ However, the ruling party in
Maharashtra came down heavily on him asking “on what basis he was suggesting this”.
“It was felt that the Prime Minister will advice citizens on how to face such a situation. But he didn’t tell how to save oneself from the coronavirus storm. He was expected to provide a vigour (in the battle against Covid), but instead a gist of his speech was like “you should take care of yourself,” said the Sena in an editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamana.
