New Delhi: Joining hands in a bid to fight Covid-19, Delhi University’s Hansraj College on Wednesday thronged open its premises as a newly set-up vaccination center and a 100-bed health facility centre. The College turned its hostel premises into a 100bed health facility for Covid19 patients. According to the principal of Hansraj College, Rama Sharma, “The management had written to the chief minister, deputy CM and the lieutenant governor requesting them to convert its hostel space into a 100-bed Covid center with oxygen beds or a vaccination centre. The college on Tuesday also set up a kiosk for RT-PCR testing on the campus, which was opened for people on Wednesday. “The lab is approved by the ICMR AND NABL. It has been set up by the college in collaboration with JITM Skills Pvt Ltd. The testing center will be open for everyone,” Sharma added. Hansraj College has a hostel that caters to 200 residents. “We are ready to offer the space with your support that can be converted into 100 ICU facilities as the Covid patients are not getting hospital beds and that is causing anxiety,’’ she had said in the letter. The principal had also sought the setting up of a vaccination center at the college for administering Covishield vaccine to university staffers. “Delhi University’s Health Centre in Shivaji College is administering Covaxin so we thought we could get Covishield administered on the campus. But even if we are given both Covishield and Covaxin, we will be happy,” she said.
