Suspected China spy sent to jail for 6 days

- RAJIB CHOWDHURI

The Chinese national, Han Junwe, arrested by the BSF for sneaking through the IndiaBangladesh border in Malda on June 10, was sent to 6 days custody by a district court on Saturday.

The 36-year-old man from Hubei was handed over to the district police following his marathon interrogation by various central agencies. He was booked under the Foreigners Act, said SP (Malda) Alok Rajoria.

On Saturday when Han was produced at the Malda district court, the police sought a seven-day remand for him. Gyanendra Dewang, lawyer of the accused, however, opposed the plea submitting that his client failed to find the border between two countries in absence of fencing.
