Airspace map for flying of UAVs in nation to be out soon: Scindia
Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said a Digital Sky Platform (DSP) would be introduced to regulate drone operations in the country.
Mr Scindia said the platform, to be introduced soon, would grant sanction or reject drone operation in particular areas.
The Union minister was interacting with the media in Gwalior before winding up his three-daytour to Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Scindia further indicated that an interactive airspace map identifying fly and no-fly zones for drones in the country would be released shortly.
The airspace map would be uploaded online in a day or two, he added.
“An interactive airspace map indicating fly and no-fly areas for drones in the country will be released online in the next two days,” he said.
The interactive airspace will have red, yellow and green zones earmarked indicating different flying zones.
While, red zone is a nofly zone area for drones, the drone operation in the yellow zones will require permission from the authorities concerned.
However, no permission is required for drone operation in green zones.
The interactive airspace map with green, yellow and red zones will be displayed on the DSP.
Online registration of all drones shall happen through the DSP.
It has been projected by the Union civil aviation ministry that the turnover of Indian drone industry is set to take a huge leap from the current `80 crore to `15,000 crore by 2026 following announcement of the liberalised drone rules as well as production-linked incentives (PLI) recently by the Centre.
The turnover of the Indian drone industry is projected to grow to `900 crore in next three years itself.
Civil aviation minister Scindia further announced that the Gwalior railway station would be modernised at a cost of `250 crores.
