SHIVRAJ SINGH Chouhan told a state Cabinet meeting held here in the afternoon that irregularities have been noticed in the tendering process involving the seven Smart City projects in the state done during the Kamal Nath government
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Tuesday, ordered a probe into the alleged irregularities in the tendering process for the Smart City projects in the state initiated during the previous Kamal Nath government.
Mr Chouhan told a state
Cabinet meeting held here in the afternoon that irregularities have been noticed in the tendering process involving the seven Smart City projects in the state done during the Kamal Nath government. “The state government has decided to review the tenders in which irregularities were found,” state urban administration minister Bhupendra Singh said.
State public works development (PWD) minister Gopal Bhargava had earlier sounded an alert on the large scale irregularities in the tendering process of various Smart City projects initiated during the Kamal Nath government.
Smart City projects are currently being undertaken in the cities of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior, Sagar, and Satna in the state at a total cost of `6,600 crore.
Works on projects worth `1,500 crore have been completed so far.
The Smart City project in Bhopal was marred by allegations of irregularities in the auction of government lands in the state capital.
Complaints were made to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Madhya Pradesh police that land auction rules were tweaked to give undue favours to certain builders.
