Sena minister issued showcause notice over ‘illegal resort’
The ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC) has issued a show cause notice to Ratnagiri-based Sai Resort — formerly owned by state transport minister Anil Parab — for allegedly violating coastal regulation zone notification 2011. The notice has been issued under the Environment Protection Act, 1972.
The resort, located on plot number 446, is now owned by one Sadanand Kadam. Senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has alleged the state transport minister constructed the illegal resort in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) area. Mr. Somaiya claimed that the Maharashtra government would be directed to demolish the illegal structure from January 5 to 7. The BJP leader said, “Once the order is issued for demolition, I will approach the Maharashtra governor and Election Commission of India to revoke Mr Parab’’s membership of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.”
Former BJP Member of
Parliament (MP) said that Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had tried his level best to shield Anil Parab. But ultimately, the union environment ministry had served the notice to Anil Parab for his illegal construction of the Resort. The notice was served on December 17 and Mr. Parab will have to reply to the notice by January 3.
In June, Mr. Somaiya had filed a complaint with the central and state environment departments alleging that constructions in Konkan region by Milind Narvekar, the personal assistant of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, and Maharashtra transport Minister Anil Parab were illegal. The BJP leader had alleged that Mr. Narvekar and Mr Parab allegedly flouted CRZ norms in connection with constructing their illegal bungalow.
