PATIENTS WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM SHOULD AVOID:
Eating raw cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach), and have only small quantities of these vegetables in cooked form, say nutritionists.
Soy foods like tofu, soy milk, soyabeans and soya nuggets are also to be avoided, as these contain compounds that disrupt thyroid hormone secretion. * Hyperthyroid patients should avoid excess consumption of iodine-rich products like seafood, iodised salt and caffeine.
