PATIENTS WITH HYPOTHYROI­DISM SHOULD AVOID:

Eating raw cruciferou­s vegetables (cabbage, cauliflowe­r, broccoli, spinach), and have only small quantities of these vegetables in cooked form, say nutritioni­sts.

Soy foods like tofu, soy milk, soyabeans and soya nuggets are also to be avoided, as these contain compounds that disrupt thyroid hormone secretion. * Hyperthyro­id patients should avoid excess consumptio­n of iodine-rich products like seafood, iodised salt and caffeine.
