“IT IS A CAPTIVATING GRAPHIC NOVEL WITH AN ENGAGING STORY AND IMMERSIVE ARTWORK. AUTHOR RAMESH THAMILMANI’S ATTEMPT TO LAUNCH INDIA’S FIRST MYTHOLOGICAL SUPERHERO WITH A CONTEMPORARY TWIST WILL LEAVE EVERY READER WANTING MORE.” — M.S. DHONI
Superhero comics and graphic novels are dime-adozen – the Marvel Universe, Batman comics, Watchmen novels, there are so many of them out there. But one in which an Indian cricketing legend gets powers beyond his human capacity still makes news! MS Dhoni will be the central character of an upcoming digital graphic novel.
Atharva The Origin, created by Virzu Studios in association with MIDAS Deals Pvt. Ltd. is a graphic novel put together by Chennaibased artist and author Ramesh Thamilmani. In the book, Dhoni takes on the avatar of a superhero warrior and leader. In an exclusive to DC, Ramesh said, “Atharva —
The Origin is a dream project and one that is close to my heart. We worked for several years to bring alive a vision, an idea, and translate it into a masterpiece, as you will see. I am excited and happy to have MS Dhoni as ‘Atharva’. Each of the characters and the artwork in the novel, including that of Dhoni, has been developed after extensive research; and every nuance of the imaginary world has been created with great attention to detail.”
Elaborating, he said, “Unlike other digital comics like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings which are in 2D, Atharva –The Origin has realistic artwork. It features 150 lifelike illustrations; and like a feature film, it has 150 scenes with proper shot division. The narrative is gripping and racy, and you will get the feel of watching a commercial film when you complete the 300-page digital novel.”
He also revealed that the novel would be in English to start with and later, a Tamil version would be made available. “Ace lyricist/writer Madhan Karky will be writing the Tamil version,” Ramesh revealed.
