Mira’s mantra for severe hair fall

In her new video, Shahid Kapoor’s wife speaks about how she combatted her hair-fall issue

Mira Rajput was apparently so stressed once she began losing her hair in lumps. In a new video she shared on her YouTube channel, Mira spoke about facing severe hair fall recently, while sharing the steps she took to combat it.

“Of course, I’ve had hair fall postpartum twice but never in this way. I was seeing visible thinning, temples beginning to recede, clumps of hair falling. I was so scared to even brush my hair because that’s the amount of hair that was falling. I was just scared to touch my hair.

That’s when I realised that something is wrong and I need to do something about it,”

Mira said in the video.

While trying to get to the root of the matter, she says she learnt about telogen effluvium, a form of temporary hair loss brought about by stress. That helped her identify her own physical and mental triggers, which she says could have been owing to the second jab and the stress of everything else that was on her plate, including her worries around the rapid spread of COVID-19, her children Misha and Zain’s online school and her ‘overtraining’ in the gym.

Mira also stressed that poor hair practices made things worse. Suggesting her viewers to use cloth or silk scrunchies, she confessed that she’d stopped tying tight ponytails, instead tying her hair into a loose bun. She also pointed to how her not brushing her hair enough was adding to the issue: “I was so scared of brushing my hair, but I didn’t realise it was counterproductive because my scalp wasn’t getting enough blood circulation,” she added.

“I’VE HAD HAIR FALL POSTPARTUM TWICE BUT NEVER IN THIS WAY. I WAS SEEING VISIBLE THINNING, TEMPLES BEGINNING TO RECEDE, CLUMPS OF HAIR FALLING. I WAS SO SCARED TO EVEN BRUSH MY HAIR BECAUSE THAT’S THE AMOUNT OF HAIR THAT WAS FALLING.”
