Retired Army officer awarded for promoting peace

Tej Kaul has been awarded the prestigious Dr Nirmala Deshpande Memorial Global Peace Award for his outstanding contribution in promoting peace between India’s neighbours, primarily India and Pakistan, and various humanitarian causes, especially for his efforts in carrying out relief and rehabilitation work during the Covid-19 pandemic in Jammu & Kashmir. General Kaul has held critical and command assignments in J&K and Punjab during the peak of militancy. These include command of an Infantry Brigade and Infantry Battalion. He has also served as assistant military secretary at Army Headquarters, deputy Director General, Military Intelligence-Foreign Division, and the General Officer Commanding of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa area. General Kaul has the honour to be the first officer from Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai to be bestowed the nation’s highest honour for distinguished services of most exceptional order, namely the Param Vishisht Seva Medal.
