Shah: Tribal population falling under Soren govt

- NAYYAR AZAD PATNA, FEB. 4

Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, claiming that the Jharkhand government is the most corrupt in the country.

“He (Hemant Soren) is leading the most corrupt government in the country. People are watching everything and they will be out of power soon,” Mr Shah said while addressing a “Vijay Sankalp” rally in Deoghar.

Training his guns on Mr Soren during the event, Mr Shah charged him with indulging in votebank politics.

“Tribal lands have gone into the hands of infiltrators and all this is being done for votebank politics,” he said.

He also used the occasion to highlight the death of a teenage girl who was burnt to death by her stalker in Dumka last year.

“Hemant Soren is aware of all these things but not doing anything. The tribal population has also seen a decline in the state due to infiltration from across the international border which has been encouraged by the Soren government. The tribal population has declined from 35 per cent to 24 per cent,” Mr Shah said.

While addressing the rally, he said that the BJP will register a massive win in the 2024 Lok Sabha by winning all 14 seats in the state.

According to political analysts, Mr Shah’s visit to Jharkhand has set the tone for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Sources from Ranchi said this was his second visit to the state within a short span.

Experts said that the BJP is targeting areas that are currently being held by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress.

Mr Shah was in Deoghar to lay the foundation stone of `450crore Iffco Nano urea liquor fertiliser plant in Deoghar district’s Jasidih. The production of Nano urea will benefit the neighbouring states of Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha.
