Shahbad Dairy murder: Cops recreate sequence of events

Police asks victim’s 3 friends to join investigat­ion

The Delhi police on the early hours of Wednesday recreated the scene of crime at the same bylane in northwest Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy where 20year-old Sahil brutally killed the minor girl. Further the police has asked the friends of Sakshi to join the investigat­ion.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, accused Sahil was taken to the same spot in Shahbad Dairy where he had killed Sakshi, the police said.

“Due to security concerns, accused Sahil was taken to the spot in the early hours of Wednesday morning. We recreated the scene of crime to understand and establish the sequence of event and how he executed the crime and what he did thereafter as part of our investigat­ion,” a senior police officer.

A senior police officer said that three friends of Sakshi -- Jhabru, Bhawna and Neetu -- have been asked to join the investigat­ion and give required details in connection with the incident.

Fresh CCTV footage have emerged where the victim is seen walking into a street minutes before the incident.

Jhabru said that Sakshi had complained to him about Sahil on Saturday.

“On Saturday, Sakshi came and said that Sahil pesters her. I, along with Bhawna and Sakshi, went to meet Sahil where we asked him not to bother her. However, on Sunday, he committed the crime.

“When I heard about the incident and went to the spot, I saw her body lying there. Her head was skull ruptured and her intestine were out. I helped police to shift the body into the ambulance,” he said.

Sunil Kumar, another local who reached the spot after the incident, said he saw a lot of people gathered there and Jhabru was helping police to carry the body of Sakshi went there I saw Sakshi’s dead body and Ajay was helping police in keeping the body in an ambulance. The weapon, which was a knife used in commission of crime was allegedly thrown by Sahil into the bushes in Rithala but even now the weapon has not been recovered, he said.

According to the police, on the day of the incident, the accused had consumed alcohol in the afternoon. Sakshi, who was returning after changing her dress in a public toilet in order to attend the birthday party of her friend’s kid, was attacked by the accused with knife multiple times and later hit by a stone slab.

After killing her, Sahil went to a nearby park and stayed there for a while. Later, he went to Rithala metro station where, as per his claims, he threw the weapon in the bushes. He reached Anand Vihar bus terminal and took a bus till Bulandshah­r in UP. A call at his home led police to nab him from Uttar Pradesh.
