Viral UP mei ka ba singer Neha may get Cong ticket

- BHASKAR HARI SHARMA NEW DELHI, MARCH 16

The northeast Lok Sabha constituency in the national capital could possibly witness the clash of two Bhojpuri singers. Indian folk singer, known for targeting the BJP through her songs, Neha Singh Rathore is likely to be pitted against the BJP heavyweight, Manoj Twari from northeast Lok Sabha constituency. Ms Rathore shot to fame with her songs “Bihar mein Ka ba” and “UP mein ka ba” during the 2020 Bihar Assembly election and 2022 Lok Sabha polls. Her songs hit out at the ruling dispensation for making “false promises.”

Apart from being vocal against the ruling BJP, Ms Rathore is also famous for voicing dissent against the ‘vulgarity in Bhojpuri songs’ and accuses Bhojpuri stars Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan Dinesh Lal yadav ‘Nirahua’ and Pawan Singh for salacious and lewd contents and generalising women in their songs.

It is pertinent to mention that Mr Tiwari, Mr Kishan and Mr Yadav are sitting parliamentarians from the BJP while Mr Singh is likely to contest from the saffron party.

Sources in the Congress party said that, “Ms Rathore’s name cropped up before the senior leadership due to her image as a Bhojpuri folk singer, which made her popular among women particularly those hailing from Purvanchal region. Further she also hails from the same region in Bihar from which Mr Tiwari belongs making her one of the probable from the North East Delhi constituency, which is dominated by the Poorvanchal voters.”

Jai Prakash Agarwal, who won the seat in 2009 and Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely are also in the fray for this constituency.
