Director quotes heavy rates for meeting ‘random’ people who come to him looking for ‘shortcuts’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his blunt remarks, whether it be calling feminist filmmakers ‘frauds’ or calling out the Khans for being prisoners of their star image, has done it again! The director, who has launched many actors and given several others breakout roles in his films (Abhay Deol in Dev D, Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Raman Raghav 2.0 and Gangs of Wasseypur) has put up a scathing post dotted with expletives on his Instagram account, warning any actor, scriptwriter or director against trying to get in touch with him for a career boost.

He wrote, “I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up with mediocre s**t. So from now on I don’t want to waste my time meeting random people who think they’re creative geniuses. So I will now have rates.”

Giving details, he said, “If someone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes I will charge 1 lakh, for a half hour 2 lakhs and 1 an hour 5 lakhs. That’s the rate. I am tired of wasting time meeting people. If you think you can afford it, call me or stay the f**k away. And all paid in advance, and I mean it. Don’t text, DM, or call me. Pay, and you will get time. I am not a charity, and I am tired of people looking for shortcuts.” Anurag’s daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap escalated: “Forwarding this to everyone in my DMs and email sending me scripts for you.” His post gains support from Shekhar Kapur, Sahana Goswami and Kubbra Sait.
