- AVINASH PRABHAKAR NEW DELHI, MAY 4

ALL THREE candidates took out road shows along with senior AAP leaders and volunteers of the party before filing nominations. Sanjay Singh, Atishi, and MLA Dilip Pandey among other leaders attended the procession.

Three AAP Lok Sabha candidates—Kuldeep Kumar from East Delhi, Somnath Bharti from New Delhi, and Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi constituencies—filed their nomination papers in the presence of top party leaders on Saturday.

One other candidate, Sahiram Pehalwan from South Delhi, has already filed his nomination paper earlier this week.

The AAP is contesting four of the seven Lok Sabha seats in alliance with the Congress in the capital city.

All three candidates took out road shows along with senior AAP leaders and volunteers of the party before filing nominations.

AAP’s Delhi state convener Gopal Rai accompanying Mr Bharti for filing the nomination papers from New Delhi constituencies said that two types of anger are prevailing among the public in the city.

“First, the people of this constituency voted for the BJP and made her MP for 10 years. She became Union minister but did not do anything for the people here. Secondly, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was working for the public in the city and these people (BJP) also put him in jail,” he said.

AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot along with a large number of party supporters accompanied West Delhi candidate Mahabal Mishra for filing the nomination paper.

Mr Singh, addressing the gatherings on the occasion, said Arvind Kejriwal has been put in jail by this dictatorial government.

“There is a lot of anger among the people of Delhi due to this. Today, the people of Delhi are saying that chief minister Mr Kejriwal has provided education, health, electricity, water, and pilgrimage to the elderly and whoever put him in jail will be answered through votes.”

East Delhi candidate Mr Kumar, who hails from the Dalit community, sought the blessings of his parents and jailed party leader Manish Sisodia’s wife as well as offered tributes to Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s statue before embarking on his nomination procession.

Party Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, Delhi minister Atishi, and MLA Dilip Pandey among other leaders attended the procession.

Mr Sanjay Singh claimed the BJP will lose all seven Lok Sabha seats and the INDIA bloc will come to power at the Centre winning 300 seats across the country.
