Its ‘outsiders vs insiders’, BJP cheated voters of E. Delhi, says AAP’s Kuldeep

- AVINASH PRABHAKAR

AAP’s East Delhi Lok Sabha seat candidate Kuldeep Kumar said this election is not like the previous two polls as it is being conducted at a time when chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been unlawfully put behind the bars and there is a lot of anger among the public.

In an interview with this newspaper, he said that by fielding an “outsider” in East Delhi, the BJP has insulted the voters of the constituency.

“The biggest challenge and issue is to save the Constitution across the country. If this government comes to power again, they will snatch away the rights and will end democracy in the country and change the Constitution,” said the AAP candidate while talking about his priority. He also said that the all-round development of East Delhi will be his top priority.

On being asked about his BJP rival candidate Harsh Malhotra, who was also the mayor of erstwhile East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), Mr Kumar said, “He has been the mayor from East Delhi civic body, but not the councillor from East Delhi. If a former mayor has to give his own introduction while seeking votes from the public then it raises serious questions over his tenure as the mayor.”

“There is not a single work to his credit and this is the reason why the public does not recognise him. Instead of being mayor of the EDMC, he had been the mayor of BJP,” he added.

Mr Kumar also raised the issues of outsiders versus insiders in the constituency and asserted that BJP has cheated the voters of the constituency.

He said that previously two times (2014 and 2019) the BJP gave the tickets to outsiders from this seat.

“In 2019, BJP fielded celebrity Gautam Gambhir from here who was never seen among the public during the last five years. Now the party has picked a candidate from Northeast and dropped in East Delhi as its candidate. It is an insult to the party workers of this seat,” he said about the BJP candidate from the East Delhi seat.

On being asked about the impact of the arrest of the chief minister, Mr Kumar said this election is not BJP versus AAP, but BJP versus the people of Delhi.

“Today large-scale anger is prevailing among the public as their chief minister has been arrested in a fake case. He has deliberately been kept in jail to prevent him from campaigning for the election. The BJP has insulted 2 crore citizens of the city,” he said.

The biggest challenge and issue is to save the Constitution across the country. If BJP comes to power again, they will snatch away the rights and will end democracy in the country and change the Constitution.
