Prez decorates 6 CRPF bravehearts
Six CRPF personnel, including four posthumous, were decorated with military gallantry medals by President Droupadi Murmu during a defence investiture ceremony held here on Friday. The family members of inspector Dilip Kumar Das, head constable Raj Kumar Yadav and constables Bablu Rabha and Shambhu Roy received Kirti Chakras (posthumous) from Ms Murmu. They were recognised for displaying gallant action during an antiNaxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on April 3, 2021.
Twenty-two security personnel, including eight from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were killed in action during this gunbattle, followed by a Naxal ambush that went on for six hours.
Ms Murmu awarded the Shaurya Chakra to Bibhor Kumar Singh, assistant commandant and constable Gamit Mukesh Kumar, honouring
their bravery and dedication to the nation.

On February 25,2022, a
special search and destroy operation was launched in the Chhakarbandha forest area in Aurangabad districy involving 205 CoBRA, 47 Bn CRPF, and the Bihar police. As the troops approached their target, Maoists opened fire.
Demonstrating unwavering determination, assistant commandant Singh
led a flanking attack, causing the Maoists to retreat. Despite being gravely injured by an IED and losing his left foot, he continued to lead his troops, securing a dominant position and recovering IEDmaking materials. For his exceptional bravery, Mr Singh was awarded the Shaurya Chakra on 15 August 2023.
