At the board meeting of the International Advertising Association (IAA) held in Bucharest, Romania recently, Srinivasan Swamy, chairman of the R K SWAMY HANSA Group, has taken over as the chairman and world president, IAA, for a period of two years. The first Indian ever to hold this post, Swamy’s appointment as chairman reinforces India’s contribution to the global advertising industry and is proof of the impact that Indian talent is making in global leadership roles. Swamy takes over the reins from legendary advertising professional Felix Tataru from Romania.
Cheil WW India
Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar, chief creative officer at Cheil WW India, has quit the agency. Mahabaleshwarkar had been with the agency since December, 2015. He has decided to move on from the organisation to pursue new opportunities. Emmanuel Upputuru will be replacing Sagar with effect from October 2018. An official statement says, “We would like to thank Sagar for his contribution towards building Cheil’s creative reputation and wish him good luck in all his future endeavours.”
Havas Group India
Havas Group India has appointed Rana Barua as chief executive officer. In his new role, Barua’s mandate will be to chart Havas India’s journey of transformation and exponential growth with a focus on collaboration and partnerships, new business momentum, and building and leading future-ready teams. Barua will report to Vishnu Mohan, chairman and chief executive officer of Havas Group, India and Southeast Asia, and work closely with the existing leadership teams. The appointment is effective immediately.
Digitas, a digital agency from the stable of Publicis Groupe, has announced the elevation of Mark McDonald to a national role as head of creative, India. Prior to this McDonald was leading the creative team for the agency’s Mumbai office. In his new role, McDonald will oversee the creative team and output for Digitas across its offices in India including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. He will report to Prithviraj Banerjee, executive director, Digitas India.
IAA India Chapter
Punit Goenka, managing director and CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has been elected president of India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) at its AGM held on September 24, 2018 in Mumbai. Shashi Sinha, CEO, IPG Media Brands India was elected vice president. Other office bearers includes Pradeep Dwivedi, CEO, Sakal Media Group - Hon. Secretary; Jaideep Gandhi, founder, Another Idea - Hon. Treasurer and Ramesh Narayan, immediate past president.
