Wipro Says Will Consider Bonus Issue on Jan 18
Bengaluru: Wipro said it would consider a bonus issue of shares to shareholders, its second in two years, on January18 when the company announces its quarterly results.
The board will also declare an interim dividend, Wipro said in a regulatory filing on Monday.
In June 2017, the Bengaluru-based company had announced a bonus of one share for each share held. That was its fifth issue of bonus shares in a decade.
In September that year, it announced a buyback of up to 343.75 million shares representing 7.06% of its paid-up capital, for .₹ 320 each, or .₹ 11,000 crore in total. Wipro’s shares closed 4.5% lower at .₹ 313.35 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday. The bonus issue announcement came after market close.
In July 2018, cross-town rival Infosys had announced a one-for-one bonus issue to mark the 25 years of its listing in India.
