Wipro Says Will Con­sider Bonus Is­sue on Jan 18

Ben­galuru: Wipro said it would con­sider a bonus is­sue of shares to share­hold­ers, its sec­ond in two years, on Jan­uary18 when the com­pany an­nounces its quar­terly re­sults.

The board will also de­clare an in­terim div­i­dend, Wipro said in a reg­u­la­tory fil­ing on Mon­day.

In June 2017, the Ben­galuru-based com­pany had an­nounced a bonus of one share for each share held. That was its fifth is­sue of bonus shares in a decade.

In Septem­ber that year, it an­nounced a buy­back of up to 343.75 mil­lion shares rep­re­sent­ing 7.06% of its paid-up cap­i­tal, for .₹ 320 each, or .₹ 11,000 crore in to­tal. Wipro’s shares closed 4.5% lower at .₹ 313.35 on the Bom­bay Stock Ex­change on Mon­day. The bonus is­sue an­nounce­ment came af­ter mar­ket close.

In July 2018, cross-town ri­val In­fosys had an­nounced a one-for-one bonus is­sue to mark the 25 years of its list­ing in In­dia.
