Call drops: Bharti to allow subscribers to check coverage
New Delhi, June 14: In a bid to improve quality of services following a rising number of call drops reported, Bharti Airtel on Tuesday said it will open up the entire network infrastructure information to end consumers, wherein subscribers can see the quality of coverage.
The interactive interface called Open Network, is part of the company's “Project Leap” launched in November last year, to address issues of call drops and increase mobile phone coverage across the country.
The new open network interface will be available on Bharti Airtel's India website as well as on its mobile app from Wednesday, the company said in a statement.
“Open Network is a paradigm shift in the way we engage with our customers. With this initiative, we are establishing complete transparency with regards to our mobile network and opening ourselves to customer scrutiny and feedback,” said Gopal Vittal, chief executive of Bharti's India and South Asia operations.
“Today, getting permissions to put up a network site is perhaps the biggest challenge in delivering a seamless experience to customers. We hope customers will actively come forward and help us make our network better.”
Through the Open Network link, consumers can see Bharti Airtel's mobile network coverage/ signal strength across its operations in India, including details of new network sites.
