Chaos on this stretch of Chira Bazar

-

The stretch of Chira Bazar, Dadyseth Agiary Galli, Fanaswadi, Jayakar Road and the JSS Road/Thakurdwar is shabby beyond description and it looks as if there is no corporator here. The BEST buses operate on J.S.S. Road both ways and at the Thakurdwar Junction to Fanaswadi four ways and is so disorderly it has become extremely difficult for people to even budge as they are hindered by the erratic parking of cars/two-wheelers/handcarts on both sides. The hawkers are generously occupying footpaths as well as the road itself. The roads are so densely packed, one can only walk in the middle of the roads. The Dadyseth Agiary Galli and the road leading to Fanaswadi is blocked most of the time by the tempos/trucks parked in the middle of the roads, throwing traffic out of gear. Handcarts, scooters and cars are parked near the Balaji Mandir in Fanaswadi, leaving a very narrow space for traffic. The add-on problem is that the traffic is two-ways. The BMC must take this congestion problem seriously and chalk out a 'thorough revamp programme.' The road at the Thakurdwar Junction, is uneven and requires raising and relevelling. If action is not initiated immediately, the result can only be terrible chaos. A metro rail system on an elevated corridor or in the underground mode is essential and inevitable and a survey should be immediately undertaken to sustain future demand.
