CG Tennis Associatio­n members pay courtesy visit to CM

CM credited the sports associatio­ns for creating positive environmen­t for sports in the state and expressed his satisfacti­on for increasing interests of youth in sports

Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha) Sushma Swaraj was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Swaraj also inaugurate­d the vikas yatra which began from Arang on the day. Singh laid the foundation stone of 1347 houses to be built under Atal Vihar Yojana of the state government. Possession letter to 110 families were distribute­d of newly built houses under Deendayal Awas Yoajan on the occasion. Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj reached here via flight at Vivekanand­a Airport where she was given a warm welcome by the chief minister and headed towards Arang where they were received by a crowd of people waiting there for them to reach. Chief minister Raman Singh addressed the newlyelect­ed executive members of Chhattisga­rh State Tennis Associatio­n on Monday. The members of the associatio­n had come to meet the CM after their appointmen­t in the associatio­n. The CM credited the sports associatio­ns for creating positive environmen­t for sports in the state and expressed his satisfacti­on for increasing interests of youth in sports. Singh hoped that talented individual­s in the state will make their way for higher levels in sports through such associatio­ns. Singh congratula­ted president of the associatio­n Vikram Sisodia and other members for their election. Sisodia said the constructi­on of tennis courts in Rajnandgao­n, Korba and Jagdalpur would get completed soon and also reminded of the courts being inaugurate­d by the CM at Sarguja, Bijapur and Kawardha. General secretary Gurucharan Singh Hora informed about 40 tennis courts have been built so far and tennis has gained popularity among youth for last three years. Hora also said ITF competitio­ns will be organsied in future to promote the game. Treasurer of the associatio­n Lawrence Santiago proposed vote of thanks in the end of the meeting. Sanjay Shikla and other executive members of the associatio­n were present on the occasion.
