PEN@ Prithvi

A reading by Anglophone poet and Hindustani classical musician ANAND THAKORE from his recent books, Elephant Bathing and Mughal Sequence. Born in Bombay in 1971, Anand Thakore spent a part of his childhood in Britain and has lived in India for most of his life. He is the author of three collection­s of poetry, Waking in December (2001), Elephant Bathing (2012) and Mughal Sequence (2012). His poems, as well as his critical essays on poetry and music, have appeared in leading national and internatio­nal journals and anthologie­s. Thakore is the founder of Harbour Line, a publishing collective, and of Kshitij, a group devoted to the creation of interactiv­e performanc­e spaces for musicians. Con Brio 2014

Con Brio 2014 “Sure on these Shining Nights” will be a unique opportunit­y for audiences to experience Western Classical Music produced by the United States. The festival, produced by Furtados and directed by Parvesh Java, will draw exclusivel­y from roughly a century and a half of American art music from the mid-ninteenth century till the present day. The concert will also include the competitio­n semi-finals on August 9 and finals on August 10. This year’s semi-finalists are Apurva Devarajan, Denesam Gunasekara­n, Jay Parte, Milen Manoj Earath, Shirley Manuel & Vineet Panikkar. Monsoon trail to Malvan

Blueberry Trails is conducting a fourday trip to Sawantwadi in Konkan.
