Discovered in 1857 by Captain Forsyth, Pachmarhi is home to mythology, archaeolog­y and rich flora and fauna Nature finds its most exquisite expression in endless ways in Pachmarhi. Green shades embrace the mountains, and everywhere is heard the gentle murmur of flowing water. Bridle paths lead into tranquil forest glades, groves of wild bamboo and Jamun., dense sal forests and delicate bamboo thickets,. The air of Pachmarhi has everything fresh and captivatin­g about it.

Must Visit: Pandav Caves: Pandav Caves are a group of five ancient dwellings excavated from the sandstone rock in a low hill. Pachmarhi derives its name from these caves which, as the legend goes, once provided shelter to the five Pandav brothers. These caves are now protected monuments.

Priyadarsh­ini Point: Priyadarsh­ini Point marks the place from where Pachmarhi was discovered by Captain Forsyth in 1857. Mahadeo Hills: Regarded as holy for countless generation­s, Mahadeo Hill has a shrine with an idol of Lord Shiva and an impressive Shivlinga. On the east side of the hill is an excellent cave shelter with paintings.

Dhoopgarh : The highest point in the Satpura range is Dhoopgarh. With a magnificen­t view of the surroundin­g ranges, this is a very popular spot for viewing the sunset.

Waterfalls: There are various waterfalls and natural pools in Pachmarhi viz, Jamuna Prapat (Bee Fall), Tridhara, Irene Pool, Apsara Vihar and Rajat Prapat.

Catholic Church: Churches are another attraction of this place. The 'Catholic Church' built in 1892 by the British, is a blend of French and Irish Architectu­re. The other significan­t church is 'Christ Church' built in 1875 by the British. This church is generally regarded as the most beautiful small church in Madhya Pradesh.

Bison Lodge : It houses a beautiful museum depicting the rich flora and fauna of Pachmarhi.

The cave shelters: Some of the best cave shelters around Pachmarhi are Astachal, Harper's cave & Chieftain's cave; which one must not miss. Best Season: Throughout the year.
