Cops to match DNA of Pratyusha’s unborn foetus with that of Rahul

The Bangur Nagar police is planning to match the DNA of the unborn foetus of film actress Pratyusha Banerjee with that of Rahul Raj Singh, who has been booked for abetment to suicide after she was found hanging in her house recently.

The actress had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan and the police had booked Rahul in this matter. However, he has been granted anticipatory bail by the courts and has been asked to remain present at the police station on a daily basis.

Police sources said that the forensic team that had carried out the post mortem had detected her pregnancy and then sent the tissues for a histopathology examination. This was confir med recently and now the next step is to match the DNA of the foetus with Rahul to confirm paternity. Police sources said that they have questioned Rahul about the pregnancy and he has confirmed that he was aware of this. However, a medical test will need to be done for this and only then the investigation can be taken forward.

When asked about this, police inspector Deepak Phatangare of Bangur Nagar police station confirmed that they are questioning Rahul about the pregnancy issue, but the officer declined to give details of the matter. The officer said that they are investigating the case from all angles and trying to find out the circumstances that have led to the suicide.

Commenting on the development, Geeta Rajpal, a friend of Pratyusha Banerjee said that the actress is not alive to give any answers to these reports and hence this must be respected.” But it is a fact that she and Rahul were going to get married in the near future and hence getting into a relationship was a normal thing to happen,” she said. Further, it is possible that Rahul’s negative reaction to her pregnancy and his backing out of the relationship may be contributed to her ending of her life.

The police are also getting details of the bank accounts of the actress to see the manner in which the transactions have taken place, sources said. The details of the payment made into these accounts indicate that Pratyusha was not passing through any kind of financial crisis and has been made out by her boyfriend. “It is definitely the emotional crisis that she was facing in her personal life that led to taking the drastic step,” a family member said.
