The police have recovered the body of the five-year-old Minal Khan from a creek near NhavaSheva. However, they are still clueless about the whereabouts of the father. On Sunday, the NhavaSheva police received a call that a body had been found at the creek. According to the Wadala police, Ashad Khan (35), a medical representative texted his wife on Thursday that he had killed their daughter and he was going to commit suicide. The same text message was sent by him to 300 people on his contact list. “We visited the spot and found that it was ascertained that it was a body of a fiveyear-old girl. The body had decomposed and was suspected to be two days old. We suspect she died due to drowning. The body was taken to Vashi Civic Hospital. We informed the control rooms, as well as police stations across Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mumbai to confirm if any missing case was registered,” said Bapurao Gawde, assistant police inspector, Nhava-Sheva police station. According to P. Karyakata, Senior Police Inspector, Wadala police station “We have so far been able to trace Khan’s last tower location at Vashi bridge at around 10.30 pm on July 21. As per the CCTV footage, Khan was seen carrying his daughter on his shoulder at the Vashi toll booth on July 21. We traced his mobile phone to Khandala and, later in the evening, to the Vashi old bridge, where we found Ashad’s motorcycle, along with his helmet and key. Minal’s body was identified by her mother Shaziya from the clothes on her body.”“We have formed two teams and are trying to trace Khan’s location,” said Karyakarta. “Khan had texted his wife Shaziya at around 5 pm on Thursday telling her that he had killed their daughter and was going to commit suicide. At 9:35 pm, he sent the suicide message to nearly 300 people on his phone contact list.” said Karyakarta. ”Khan and his wife were living separately and the motive of killing his daughter appears to be a tiff between them over a personal matter, “added Karyakarta. A missing complaint was registered on Thursday night with Wadala police station.
