Divya Deshpande, Manasi Chiplunkar and Bhavitavya Shah won thrilling championsh­ip rounds to emerge supreme, in the 4 Star Vasant M. Chiplunkar Memorial Table Tennis Tournament, organized by PRO TT, at the University Pavilion.

State No. 2 Divya, winner of the JVPG title last week, beat Senhora D’Souza 9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 14-16, 116 in a nail-biting final for the women’s title, while Manasi prevailed over Aditi Sinha 8-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5, 8-11, 1210 in the junior girls final, after leading 3-1 and snatching the sixth game over extra points.

Bhavitavya Shah saved the best for the last in the concluding championsh­ip round as he beat formidable Shubham Ambre 8-11, 13-15, 15-13, 11-5, 9-11, 13-11, 11-7 in a pulsating youth boys final between quality players, in the tightest contest of the day that went all the way down to the wire.

Ambre was denied a double after earlier prevailing over Raegan Albuquerqu­e for the junior title, while Manasi Chiplunkar was also denied a double after going down to Ashlesha Trehan 10-12, 115, 11-9, 11-7, 4-11, 9-11, 11-8 in a thrilling youth girls final.

Noel Pinto won the men’s crown, Jash Modi won the cadet boys title and Sampada Bhiwandkar was the cadet girls’ champion, while Dev Shroff and Aditi Sinha won the sub junior titles and PJ Hindu Gymkhana ‘D’ won the team title.
