Churchgate GRP unites missing girl with parents

- DIWAKAR SHARMA

The Churchgate Government Railway Police have done a commendable job by rescuing a 21-year-old girl who had gone missing since August 21, after which her parents had filed a missing complaint at Dindoshi police station.

The girl, identified as Ranjeeta Ganpath Londe, was found sitting alone at Grant Road railway station on September 20. Since the girl was not having any bag and was also looking very tense, senior police inspector of Churchgate railway police station, Ravindra Dalvi, who was on patrolling at Grant Road, approached her and asked if she has any problem.

“The girl initially tried to dodge my queries and tried to misguide me. On being asked her to give me any number she gave one mobile number which even does not exist. I sensed something foul. So I asked my Women Police Constable (WPC) Savita Andhale to approach her to know if she is in problem,” Dalvi told The Free Press Journal. “The constable Andhale, in plain cloth, approached her to help. The girl told her that she had left her house in August to help her younger sister eloping with her boyfriend who resides in Nallasopara. Since that boy belongs to different community so her parents were against them. But the girl Ranjeeta was supporting her younger sister Nikita, who now got married with her boyfriend. Earlier she was staying with her younger sister and her husband in Nallasopara,” said Dalvi.

“But due to some dispute between the sisters, Ranjeeta left Nallasopara and was found sitting alone at Grant Road,” said Dalvi, who later got the number of her parents who reside in Goregaon.

Her father is a bus driver in BEST. After due process the girl was handed over to her parents, who thanked Dalvi to find their missing daughter.
