Rains affect traffic in city

The city has been witnessing heavy rainfall from the past few days affecting the daily life of the Mumbaikars. The rainfall recorded in the island city on Tuesday was 84.08mm, whereas the eastern suburbs- and western suburbs recorded a three digit rainfall of 105.64mm and 110.52mm.

The city police have deployed traffic police personnels across the city to monitor and regulate the traffic. As per the data acquired by the traffic department the Goregaon- Borivali route was affected, the traffic at Andheri and Kalanagar flyover was moving slow.

The city police on Tuesday tweeted- “South bound traffic on WEH at Malad, Jogeshwari and Vakola slow due to rains and potholes”

On Septmeber 20, the master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar appreciate­d the efforts of the Mumbai police by tweeting “Come rain or shine @mumbaipoli­ce is truly dedicated to our safety & well being (even in the rains) I salute them all!” The Mumbai police assured Sachin by tweeting@ sachin_rt Thank You Mr Tendulkar. The weather may change, but, our commitment to serve the city will remain unaffected, @MumbaiPoli­ce

Mumbai witnessing heavy showers and if the lifeline – railways - if not affected looks incomplete.

All the three lines of railways were affected yesterday. A K Singh, railway official said, “The speed of the trains was decreased to 30kmph between Sion-Kurla and Masjid bunder and Byculla due to mud pumping work being carried out. On the western line due to the signal problem near Palghar the long distance trains were running late. The central and harbour lines trains on the other hand were running 15-20 minutes late and many trains were even cancelled.”
