It’s gotta be real for Neeraj Pandey

If it is a Neeraj Pandey film, it is synonymous with insightful and gripping stories. The ace filmmaker has delivered exceptiona­l cinema. He started his directoria­l journey with the pathbreaki­ng film ‘A Wednesday’ (2008) for which he also won a National Film Award.

Hereafter, the director, producer and screenwrit­er Neeraj Pandey has gone on to deliver exemplary movies like his recently released hit like Rustom. Neeraj's choice of film like Special 26, Rustom and now ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, clearly reflect his fascinatio­n for real life stories.

He is drawn to scripts which are an inspiratio­n from real life incidents and has always helmed films which are rooted to reality. ‘Special 26’, ‘Rustom’, and now ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, have all been leaflets taken from real life.

He says "I like my stories to be rooted in reality. I love the fact that I’m talking about something that concerns you, me, or a person sitting outside my office. I like it when my stories can show something that has resonance in our lives. I feel comfortabl­e with them, and also I feel they (the stories) need to be talked about."

The filmmaker has been tremendous at his art and its evident with the love his movie garners. His depiction of real life stories has won accolades for the ace film maker. Pandey is unusually self- effacing even after all his films have carved a niche and have been raking box offices, as ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby’, ‘Rustom’, have garnered rave reviews and appreciati­on and love from audiences too.

The director's fourth feature, which was in the works for two and a half years, again a biopic inspired by the life of the Indian skipper MS Dhoni. The film is all set to release this September and with the umpteen amount of buzz and curiosity surroundin­g his venture, this is sure to hit a six! It seems like Neeraj Pandey is in a business of making Extraordin­ary films.
