Thane man accused of threatening wife

A 26 year-old woman has alleged that she has been receiving threat calls from her husband that he will get her killed. Mayuri Siddhesh Valunj has alleged that her husband Siddhesh Valunj (28) has been issuing threat calls to her ever since she has registered a case of cruelty against him in August this year.

“My troubles started in the year 2013 when my husband Siddhesh would become violent, beat me over petty household chores. He has taken away jewellery that my parents had gifted me. He would threaten me often to leave my matrimonial home,” said Mayuri, who stays in Kasarvadavli in Thane. She was married in the year 2008 as per the Hindu tradition.

“On August 16, this year, I overheard him speaking to a woman over the phone. I asked him with whom he was speaking to over the phone. My question infuriated him and he raised his hand on me again,” she said.

“Siddhesh confided in me that he was married to another woman and he has a seven months old baby girl from that wedlock. On July 17, he had brought his second wife at our residence along with their child, whom he had introduced to me before our marriage,” said Mayuri.

“After I filed an FIR against him, I received a phone call from Siddhesh threatening me that instead of paying Rs 20 lakhs to end the marriage, he would rather pay Rs 10 lakh to get me killed,” said Mayuri.

“I have not married for the second time.I had a physical relationship with another woman and I have a seven months old baby from her. A false case of cruelty has been registered against me. In fact, I had to move out of my residence because Mayuri has been emotionally and mentally torturing me.There used to be fights between us due to which I had asked her to end our marriage. She had agreed for a mutual settlement of Rs. 20 lakhs and a one BHK flat. I had clearly spoken to her about my affair and I had even introduced that woman to Mayuri,” Siddhesh told FPJ.

Meanwhile, the Kasarwadavli police have booked the accused under Section 498 (A)( Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) and Section 507 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.

The matter is presently sub judice.
