Man booked for accidental killing of teen girl

The police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for the death of a 17-year-old woman at Motilal nagar chawl in Goregaon (W) on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in chawl number 31 at Motilal nagar.

Megha Aagvane (17), a Standard XI student was heading to her college on Monday morning when she fell on soap suds while exiting from the passage which was common to all the residents of the chawl. The alley lined by the neighbours on either side was being used by her neighbour Manda Subhash Ghoderao for washing her clothes. When Megha gave her an earful over the incident, two more neighbours joined Manda. Megha’s mother Sangeeta claimed that she was hit by a bucket on her head by Manda when she tried to intervene. A cross non-cognisable complaint was registered at Goregaon police station by both the parties on Monday. They were warned by the police and let off.

According to the First Informatio­n Report, “On Monday night at around 10 p.m., when Megha’s sister Pooja (22) returned home from work and learnt of the incident, she accompanie­d Megha to Manda’s house. A scuffle broke out again between Pooja, Megha and Manda. Five other neighbours joined and started beating the two sisters with their bare hands. Their father Rajesh who heard their cries, fetched a kitchen knife and rushed to Manda’s house. “

His daughter Pooja tried to stop her father to avoid any further problems. Since she could not overpower him, Pooja, Megha and Rajesh, all three of them lost their balance and fell down. Megha and Pooja fell down first on the floor. Rajesh fell on them and the knife in his hand injured Megha’s chest.

Megha was rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries at Siddharth hospital at Goregaon hospital.

A First Informatio­n Report has been registered against Rajesh, the father of the girl, Manda and five others.
