Sena leader gets rape, murder threats
Nilam Gorhe, the Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Legislative Council member has received threats of rape and murder over mobile phone.
A shocked Gorhe has lodged complaint with the Pune Police, who have assured her that the culprits would be caught soon.
Gorhe, said, “I received text message in filthy and obscene language 10-11 pm on February 27. The message says I will be raped and shot dead soon. I have registered an offence with the Pune Police Commissioner and Mumbai Police.”
She added, “This is not the first time I got such message. A week ago, on February 21, I got text message filled with obscene language again threatening rape and murder. The message also warned me against going to the police, otherwise I would have to face consequences. I refrained from filing official police complaint not because I was scared but I simply ignored it. However, at the advice of Mumbai Police I have blocked that number.”
Gorge added that after she received another threat on February 27, with the cuss words and obscene language used, she became alert. “I cannot even read via another number on my second mobile number. That is why I got alert and decided to lodge official complaint.”
Gorhe has informed her party chief Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnvis of this development and both have promised to support her.
Being a spokesperson of Sena party and with lots of responsibilities, Gorhe says she has lots of enemies, however, she had never anticipated such threats would have been made to her. “I have many political opponents and I have criticised many leaders as I am a political figure and belong to a party with a strong ideology. But this is the first time I have received such obscene threats. I am shocked but not scared.”
One Shiv Sena leader on the condition of anonymity, said, “The law and order in the state has fallen down to such level that peoples’ representatives and political figures are now receiving threats. This is shocking.”
