22 coaches of comfort and amenities ICF in Chennai offers Antyodaya Express for busy routes on the CR

In a first of its kind, a new fully unreserved train named 'Antyodaya Express' train consisting of 22 coaches arrived at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus on Thursday. This train was manufactur­ed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.

Antyodaya is equipped with cushioned seats and facility of entering a vestibule to enable internal movement of the passengers. It has been introduced in order to provide better amenities and is equipped with facilities like water purifiers, mobile charging points and fire extinguish­ers.

Once the train is pressed into service after a twomonth periods, Antyodaya is set to run on busy routes. The Central Railway officials said the express train would be launched between Mumbai and Tatanagar situated in Jamshedpur.

"It will be a bi-weekly train and will run till Tatanagar and return once it is opened for public," said a Central Railway official.

CR officials said the fare structure of Antyodaya will be about 15 percent more than the regular fare of mail express trains. The coaches will also have facility of bio-toilets for zero discharge of effluents. "The coaches will also have toilet occupation indication lights along with a display board," said an official.

The train was announced in the rail budget of 20162017an­d was meant for the common man with facilities provided inside coaches similar to the ones in a first class compartmen­t.

The train is completely made of a steel body with air suspension brake that helps in keeping the speed of the train intact even while negotiatin­g a curve.
