Two KEM Hospital staff held for sexual assault

Two staffers of King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital were booked for molesting their 28-year- old sister- inlaw and threatenin­g to throw acid on her at Thane.

The incident took place on May 6. The two accused, Nitin Dablu Singh (29) and Sachin Dablu Singh (25) have been booked by the Wagle Estate police station. Nitin and Sachin, both residents of Parel, are absconding.

According to the FIR registered by the victim, the two men on May 6 accosted her when she had stepped out from her office in Thane to have lunch. “Nitin and Sachin touched me inappropri­ately and threatened to throw acid on me. They threatened me saying that I should return to my marital home. I had separated from my husband three years ago due to constant quarrels with him. Ever since I had separated from my husband, Nitin and Sachin have been threatenin­g and harassing me,” the victim told the police.

Later, the victim who was scared for her life and confided about the incident to her parents. She then approached the Wagle Estate and an FIR was registered.

Both accused work in the accounts department at KEM Hospital while the woman works in a private firm as a holiday advisor in Thane.

According to Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Malekar, Wagle Estate police station, “The victim married the elder brother of the two accused in February 2014. Since she was not getting along with her husband due to daily arguments over household issues, she moved to her mother’s place at Wagle Estate in Thane in March 2016. However, the accused continued to harass her as a pressure tactic.”
