CM blames Oppn for farmers’ strike

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis blamed the opppsition for instigatin­g the strike and violence as farmers go on a strike and stopped milk and vagetable supply to Mumbai on Thursday.

A strike is supposed to be voluntary, but here farmers are being instigated into it by vested interests, Fadnavis said. "We are trying to hold talks with farmers leaders and solve their issues. We will continue to hold talks in future as well. The government is positive on some of their demands while the government has even started action on some of their demands," he added.

"Farmers are being used and instigated into violane. Certain Political parties are trying to gain advantage with this srike. Farmers goods are being stopped, they are not being allowed to sell their produce. Efforts are being made to pitch farmers against police. All this is being done by members of certain political parties," the CM said.

"People whose Sangharsh yatra did not get a good response are instigatin­g the farmers. The strike took place in some places of Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar and there were stone pelting incidents as well," he added without naming the opposition Congress and the NCP.

Fadnavis said that milk producers federation­s should give higher rates of milk to farmers while enumeratin­g efforts of his government to get higher rates for farm produce.

Meanwhile, Ashok Chavan, president of Maharashtr­a Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) said that his party has lent complete support to the agitation.
