Pakeezah’s Geeta Kapoor now gets a new 'home'

Actress Geeta Kapoor (58), who was abandoned by her son at SRV hospital, Goregaon for more than a month, has finally got a new home in the city.

Dr. Dhirendra Tripathi, intensivist, of SRV hospital said that she has been shifted to ‘Jeevan Asha Old Age Home’ on Thursday. A devastated Kapoor, however, still pines for her son, with a slim hope that he will take her back.

According to Dr. Tripathi the health condition of the actress was better and they were looking for a good old-age home for her so that she could stay there once she is discharged from the hospital.

After a week of search, the hospital and few film personalities were able to find the old age home for her. They had also taken a No Objection Certificate from the Mumbai Police for shifting her to the old age home. “After a long hunt of the home for the actress we were able to find a good old age home for her. She has been now shifted to the ‘Jeevan Asha Old Age Home’ which is located in Andheri,” added Dr. Tripathi.

Only two people from film fraternity Ramesh Taurani and Ashoke Pandit have come forward to help her by paying her medical bills. Taurani and Pandit will also fund her old age home expenses.

The actress who was best known for her roles in Pakeezah and Razia Sultan got a support from the few members from Hindi film fraternity after she was allegedly abandoned by her son at the hospital halfway through her treatment.
