COMPELLING ACTION Rohit Tilak charged with having unnatural sex by Pune police
Rohit Tilak, the national Congress leader and great grandson of freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak, has been booked for rape and unnatural sex by the Pune police. The complainant who is an advocate has lodged an FIR against Tilak for raping and compelling her to have unnatural sex with him under the pretext of marriage, at Vishrambag police station, Pune on Monday night
According to an FIR, the complainant, 41-years-old, is an advocate who practices in Bombay High Court and stays in Pune. Tilak, 38years-old, is the former president of Maharashtra Youth Congress. Tilak has been assaulting her sexually and compelling her to have unnatural sex with him under the pretext of marriage. When she started to ask about his promise of marriage he physically abused her multiple times.
According to the sources, both the victim and Tilak met at a social gathering and developed friendship. Tilak started to meet her, saying he loved her and wanted to marry her. Tilak never told her he that was already married and has a son as well. He used to meet
her at his or her home or their office, or the house of friends’ or hotels in Pune or Mumbai. He would compel her to have unnatural sex with him. He often told her that he would marry her.
But when the victim began asking him about marriage, he physically abused her. The victim went to the police station to register her complaint but Tilak managed
to dissuade her from doing so. Again, he started meeting her, raping her and had unnatural sex with her. Again, the question of marriage cropped up and Tilak abused her physically. Once he also tried to calm her down by offering a mangalsutra to her. But, after being physically abused multiple times, she lodged an FIR.
He is boooked under Indian Penal Code 376 for rape, 377 for unnatural offence, 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, 504 for intentional insult for with intent to provoke breach of the peace, 506 for intimidation, 507 for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication.
Rohit is the grandson of late Jayantroa Tilak, who was senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament. His father Dipak Tilak is the current vice chancellor of the Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapith. He is the nephew of current mayor of Pune Mukta Tilak.
The complainant had organised press conference last week to expose the congress leader. However, she cancelled the conference without citing any reason. According to sources, she had to cancel the conference due to pressure or she had settled the matter with Tilak.
