After singing like a canary and making several chilling revelations in the Sheena Bora murder case, co-accused turned approver — Shyamvar Rai — has now sought security for his safety. He has accordingly moved a plea before the special court on Tuesday.

Rai, Mukherjea’s former driver who is currently being examined by the prosecution, has so far disclosed how his ex-boss Indrani Mukherjea killed her 23-year-old daughter Sheena Bora and how she had conspired to kill her son Mikhail Bora too.

In the previous hearing, he had also revealed the roles of Indrani’s former husband Sanjeev Khanna and Peter Mukherjea in the murder of Sheena.

On Tuesday, Rai had stepped into the witness box once again and testified in consonance with his statements he had given to the Khar Police in 2015, when he was arrested for the first time in an Arms Act case. It may be noted that these were the statements in which he had spilled the beans against Indrani and her husbands. In the previous hearing, Rai had testified in consonance with his confessional statements, that were recorded before a Magistrate in November 2015.

Meanwhile, Rai identified Indrani, Khanna and Peter, who were also present in court for the hearing. He also identified several documents and articles that were shown to him by the prosecution.

According to advocate Shreyansh Mithare, who represents Khanna, Rai also identified his client’s shoes

Identifying the bag that was bought to dispose Mikhail’s body, Rai said it was later given to Indrani’s domestic help as the plan to kill (Mikhail) was postponed

that he allegedly had worn while killing Sheena. “He identified my clients shoes its colour and other specifics that were shown to him after some two years,” Mithare said.

Rai also recognised the one of the two bags that were purchased by Indrani to dispose of Sheena and Mikhail’s body. Identifying the bag that was bought to dispose Mikhail’s body, he said it was later given to Indrani’s domestic help as the plan to kill (Mikhail) was postponed.

“The plan to kill Mikhail was postponed owing to the suggestion of Khanna as he had said that it would be difficult to dispose both the bodies together. The bag that was bought for Mikhail was then handed over to Pradeep Waghmare, the domestic help in Marlo bungalow,” Rai stated before the court.

In addition, Rai also identified the resignation letter that Indrani had given him to send to Sheena’s office. He further identified the document pertaining to the termination of leave and licence agreement of the rental house, in which Sheena had lived.

The prosecution has completed its examination on Rai and he would now be crossexamined by the advocates of Indrani, Peter and Khanna.
