BMC to provide toilets, meds

After organising several protest marches since 2016, the Maratha community would now be taking out its biggest-ever protest rally in Mumbai on August 9. The Maratha Kranti Morcha was formed last year by a number of organisations from the Marathi community. Hence, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is taking all measures regarding the demands made by the various associations for it like giving water, medical facility and providing mobile toilets.

Anand Waghralkar, Deputy Municipal Comissioner of BMC, stated that 14 units of

mobile toilet (each of 20 seats) would be made available at various locations of the city, also eight water tankers will be made available. At six places medical facilities will be provided. Medical camps along with doctors would be made available at Byculla Veer Jijamata Udyan, Kurla- Sion Priyadarshani road, Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) parking area, Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy (JJ) Hospital, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharashtra Terminus station and Azad Maidan.

The Muk Morcha is known for holding rallies without any political support. Till now, it has not allowed any political leader to take part in its rallies. The silent march was triggered by the gruesome rape and murder of a 15-yearold girl in Kopardi village in Ahmednagar district. They are also demanding loan waiver for farmers to curb suicides.
