Otters maintain winning form to advance into final

Otters ‘Rockets’ (Otters Club) players once again produced commendabl­e performanc­es to maintain the team’s fine winning run as they blanked KG ‘Pocket Rockets’ (Khar Gymkhana) 3-0 en route to making the final of the Otters Club- Mumbai Snooker League - 2017, conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Associatio­n of Maharashtr­a (BSAM).

In the summit clash, Otters Club will take on ECC ‘Elfies Hornets’ (Elphinston­e Cricket Club) who defeated another Khar Gymkhana side KG ‘Dirty Half Dozen’ in the second semi-final.

Meanwhile, Abhimanyu Gandhi (+20) who is in impressive form once again played the lead role for Otters Club. He dished another brilliant effort constructi­ng a break of 44 which helped him to score over Rohan Sahani (+35) 93-58 in the first frame before the Otters Club doubles combinatio­n of Zenul Arsiwala and Yudhishthi­r Jaising (+27) defeated Sagar Kanjani and Akash Asrani (+35) 79-35 to extend the lead 2-0.

Otters Club finished off the match when Rishabh Thakkar (+30) tamed young Sumehr Mago (+50) by a comfortabl­e 102-72 points. Rishabh Thakkar won the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

In the other last four match, Vilas Upsham was the star player. First, Upsham teamed up with skipper Farhad Tengra (+20) to beat Khar Gymkhana’s duo of Nikhil Saigal and Kreish Gurbaxani (+20) 64-25 in the first frame.

But, Khar Gymkhana went on win the second with Sparsh Pherwani (+35) prevailing over Rushabh Gohil (+55) by a close 95-83 points to level the scores. However, Pramod Pol (+50) pulled off a decisive win against formidable Yasin Merchant (scratch) 106-70 before Vilas Upsham returned to the table and clinched a 106-70 win against Sparsh Pherwani to complete ECC’s win. Upsham was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
