MDL organises free artificial limbs distributi­on camp

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilde­rs Ltd (MDL), under the administra­tive control of Ministry of Defence (DDP), organised a free artificial limbs distributi­on camp recently at MGM Institute of Medical Sciences, Kalamboli for persons with disabiliti­es (divyang). This camp was organised by MDL in collaborat­ion with Artificial Limbs Manufactur­ing Corporatio­n (ALIMCO) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibi­lity (CSR) initiative­s. A total of 413 divyangs, different types of artificial limbs including motorised tricycle, wheel chairs, hearing aids and MSIED kits, were given during the camp.

SER GM inspects Howrah-Mumbai Duronto Express

S N Agrawal, general manager, South Eastern Railway (SER) inspected the overall cleanlines­s of 12262 Howrah-Mumbai Duronto Express before departure of the train from Howrah Station at 08.20 am. SER’s general manager also inspected the different passenger amenity features of Howrah-Mumbai Duronto Express. J K Saha, chief mechanical engineer and other senior officers of S E Railway were present during the inspection. Indian Railways is observing Swachhta Pakhwada throughout the country from August 16 to 31, 2017 and the theme was Swachh Railgaadi (Clean Train).

N F Railway commemorat­es Quit India Movement

Along with the rest of nation N F Railway is also commemorat­ing the 75th anniversar­y of Quit India Movement in a befitting manner. General Manager, N F Railway, Chahatey Ram administer­ed of pledge on Sankalp for a New India to all officers and staff of N F Railway at N F Railway Head Quarter recently. In all schools run by the Railways, quiz competitio­n on the Quit India movement would be conducted in every quarter. The discretion on New India Manthan would be held in the divisions and the head quarter in which there will be thread ware discussion on future plan and action of the railway.

SWR and JSW Steel Ltd, Tornagallu ink tariff contract

South Western Railway (SWR) and JSW Steel Ltd., Toranagall­u signed long term tariff contract agreement for a period of three years by which Railways will retain the existing traffic of JSW Steel Ltd, Toranagall­u besides encouragin­g them to load incrementa­l traffic on cumulative basis during the contract period and also strive to divert the traffic from road to rail thereby increase the rail coefficien­t. K Shivaprasa­d, chief commercial manager of South Western Railway and Susheel Nowal, vice president of JSW Steel Ltd signed the MOU in presence of A K Gupta, general manager and B B Singh, additional general manager, G J Prasad, chief operations manager and A K Singh, principal finance advisor of South Western Railway.

Cherishing moments with Cancer Patients

Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF) organised ‘Cherished Moments with Cancer Patients’ (Musical event and Theatrical play) recently at the Yashwantra­o Chavan Auditorium, Yashwantra­o Chavan Pratishtha­n, Next to Sachivalay­a Gymkhana, Mumbai 400 021, in loving memory of CARF’s founder late professor Kazi. Javed G Dalvi, mayor of Bhiwandi was the chief guest of the function. Many eminent guests like Shoeb Khan, president Bhiwandi Congress; Arun Bakshi, actor and singer; Aarti Nagpal, actress; Deepak Thanvi, Neon Pharmaceut­icals and many other guests were present. CARF staff awards were given to appreciate the good works of CARF team. Rashida Kazi chairperso­n emeritus; Shamshi Mulla- chairman and Savita Nathani-CEO, thanked everyone for the cause.

Mumbai Airport to host Helios’ first travel retail store in India

Luxury watch brand Helios, from Titan, has entered the travel retail segment with its first airport store in India at Terminal 1 of the Chhatrapat­i Shivaji Internatio­nal Airport (CSIA), administer­ed by GVK Mumbai Internatio­nal Airport Private Limited (MIAL). The expansive retail arena at the Mumbai Airport, coupled with the high number of passenger footfalls prompted the brand to enter the increasing­ly appealing segment of airport retail.

Telangana Senior Open Ranking Carrom Championsh­ip-2017 held

NTPC-Ramagundam hosted Telangana Senior Open Ranking Carrom Championsh­ip-2017 from August 21-24, 2017. To declare the opening of the Carrom Championsh­ip, chief guest of the occasion M N Prasad, GM (project) highlighte­d the significan­ce of sports in life. NTPC-Ramagundam/NTPCTelang­ana in associatio­n with its township clubs and Sports Council has been organising many sports activities to provide platforms for the budding athletes for the township residents and nearby villagers. This type of state level sports event will give an exposure to youngsters, he added. Around 150 participan­ts from all districts of Telangana state taking participat­ion in the 4-day championsh­ip featuring male-singles and doubles, female-singles and veterans-singles events.

NTPC Rihand pledges for harmony on Sadbhavana Diwas

NTPC Rihand celebrated Sadbhavana Diwas in administra­tive building, located on project premises, recently. Chief guest Ranjan Kumar, general manager (operations), administer­ed the oath. Officials and staff pledged for working towards harmony and unity of the country and overcoming discrimina­tory practices, including those based on caste, creed, region, religion and language. They also vowed for using constituti­onal measures for devising solutions to all societal problems. Among others, general manager (maintenanc­e) PK Mohapatra; general manager (FM) AK Kesari; additional general manager (HR) KS Murty; additional general manager (TAC) Ved Prakash; department heads and members of unions and associatio­ns were present.

NTPC’s Electron Quiz National Finals –2017

NIT -Silchar bagged the first prize, followed by Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad - second prize and RAIT, Mumbai walked away with the third prize at the NTPC’s prestigiou­s Electron Quiz National Finals -2017. The quiz had participat­ion from around 250 teams covering all regions in India. Regional rounds were held at Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Hyderabad, Lucknow and the last one at Noida. The winning teams received cash prizes and certificat­es from Saptarshi Roy, director (HR), NTPC. Roy appreciate­d the fact that NTPCElectr­on Quiz has generated a lot of interest in the educationa­l institutes of the country and has brought the best minds under one roof. Electron Quiz was started way back in the year 2004.

ONGC’s Ahmedabad Asset receives National Safety Awards (Mines)

ONGC’s Ahmedabad Asset has been declared as the winner of National Safety Awards (Mines) 2013 for the longest accident free period amongst oil mines producing less than 7 million cubic metre of oil and oil equivalent gas. The award was presented to Ahmedabad Asset by President of India, Ram Nath Kovind in a glittering awards function at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi recently. This was in presence of MoS(IC) for Labour and Employment, Government of India, Bandaru Dattatreya. Award was received on behalf of Ahmedabad Asset by ED-Asset Manager, P K Mishra as management representa­tive and D J Chaudhary, foreman (electrical) and general Secretary, Petroleum Mazdoor Sangh (PMS) as workmen’s representa­tive.

General Manager of SER inaugurate­s modular operation theatres

S N Agrawal, general manager, South Eastern Railway (SER) inaugurate­d modular operation theatres at S E Railway Central Hospital, Garden Reach. Puran Mal, chief medical director, S E Railway; Rupa Mitra, medical director, S E Railway along with a host of doctors were also present at the inaugural ceremony. With a view to provide better health care and treatment to the railway men and their family members, it has been necessitat­ed to set up this kind of new modular operation theatre. The first phase of the modular OT complex made up of Stainless Steel 304 quality and Hepafilter­s with laminar air flow, world class pendants and conductive and antistatic flooring will go a long way in providing the right ambiance for performing complex surgical procedures.
