Jeet Foundation emerge champs

-

A determined Jeet Foundation outfit after going through several anxious moments managed come out trumps and emerge champions in the second edition of ‘Golden Touch’ football Tournament (boys’ under-16 years) for NGO teams. In an engrossing and well contested final, Jeet Foundation shot down Underdogs 3-2 via the penalty shootout tie-breaker after regulation period ended in a goalless draw, at the Cooperage football ground.

The ‘Golden Touch’ tournament is an initiative of young Rohin Modi a passionate soccer player studying at Charterhouse, UK. Rohin had started playing the sport participating in the inter-schools events in Mumbai since the age of five.

The summit clash witnessed quite a tense and absorbing tussle for supremacy. Both teams adopted an offensive approach and played with high intensity as a result there was plenty of goalmouth action at either end and there were quite a lot of thrills and spills throughout the match. Unfortunately neither team, succeeded in finding the back of the net, during normal period and the referee was forced to enforce the tiebreaker to settle the outcome of the match.

In the penalty shootout duel, Jeet Foundation managed to convert through Sunil Rathod, Shantu Prajapati and Kumar Rathod, while only Kartik Chauhan and Nikhil Sakariya could score for Underdogs, who had to settle for the runnersup prize. In semi-finals, Jeet Foundation proved too strong for Leher Foundation as they romped to a 3-0 victory, while Underdogs also enjoyed a good outing as they defeated Worli Seaface by a 3-1 margin.
