SRK in bigger forgery row
The attachment of Shah Rukh Khan’s farmhouse at Alibaug is just the beginning of his legal troubles. While the IT department’s adjudicating authority will take a final call on the attachment, the actor is in more serious trouble over allegations that he used forged documents to buy the 19,960sq-m plot.
According to India Today portal, the actor's former chartered accountant and confidant, Moreshwar Ajgaonkar, has told income-tax officials that he used forged documents to purchase the Alibaug land on the instructions of SRK.
SRK had ostensibly acquired the farm land for agricultural purposes but instead constructed a posh bungalow, which also has a private helipad and a swimming pool.
Ajagaonkar, in his statement to the I-T department, has admitted to misrepresenting facts in the 7/12 extract on the instructions of Shah Rukh.
The 7/12 extract is a document maintained by the state's revenue department that contains the date of purchase, name of the owner and cultivator, area, type of land among other information.
The other forged documents include a record of rights that shows the existence of a bungalow pre-991. But Google Earth Satellite Photograph for the year 2003 shows no such bungalow.
Here, the transaction becomes even murkier. SRK's company Deja Vu Farms showed an investment of Rs 16 crore on the bungalow before the Registrar of Companies. However, the income-tax department believes that around Rs 50 crore was invested in constructing the farm house.
The funds that were funnelled into the transaction are also under lens. Relevant documents and bank details have been sought from Deja Vu Farms.
The department had provisionally attached the superstar's bungalow in December. No income from farming activity ever accrued to the actor. He has been also accused of flouting coastal zone norms.
