BJP legislator Ashish Deshmukh announces plans to quit party

Ashish Deshmukh, legislator from Nagpur, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) finally announced to quit the party. BJP will lose one of its sitting legislator from Vidarbha region after Nana Patole, former Member of Parliament (MP) of the party who recently resigned from the post, quit the party and joined Congress. Deshmukh, pro-Vidarbha separate statehood leader has targetted chief minister Devendra Fadnavis during winter session of the state assembly at Nagpur.

Deshmukh, while addressing the ‘Vidarbha Yatra’ a rally at Chandrapur announced his decision to quit the party. “I had written a letter to the chief minister seeking information about how many amount was spent in Vidarbha for development in various sector and do the ruling BJP leadership think, Vidarbha region came in equal with other parts of the state. But, Fadnavis did not replied me. In fact, I had been served the show cause notice for asking questions related to Vidarbha,” said Deshmukh.

He had written three letters to the CM which were leaker to the media before actual received by Fadnavis. The chief minister, in Nagpur had stated he did not received letter of Deshmukh and he came to know about the issue through media.

He has not yet announced the date of his resignation and his future political strategy. Sources close to Deshmukh claimed that he is resigning from his post as he feels that the state leaderships has completely ignored him. The sources claimed that he will tender his resignation within a couple of days and also quit the party.

BJP has not given any official reaction over Deshmukh’s announcement.
