The BMC’s budget of Rs 27,258 crore for 2018-19 is an increase of 8.42% from the previous fiscal year.Here are some highlights...
✔ The Storm Water and drain management department budget provision for the year 2018-19 is Rs 565.55 crore. To accelerate flood abatement programme.
✔ Rejuvenation of rivers like Dahisar, Poisar and Oshiwara provision of Rs 25 lakh for this year 2018-19
✔ Mithi River beautification project provision for 2018-19 is of Rs 15 crore. River and lake beautification project of Khandarpada lake in Dahisar, Bandar Phakhadi Lake at Kandivali, Sion Lake, Poisar river, Dahisar river Rs. 5 crore provision for the year 2018-19
✔ Veer Jijamata Udyan (Byculla zoo) to be extended on seven acres of land received as amenity from the adjoining Mafatlal Mill Compound.
✔ BMC for the first time to develop veterinary center by setting up pet crematoriums Rs 14.55 crore.
✔ A provision of Rs 13 crore has been made for working women's hostels. According to the BMC, these hostels will help 175 working women.
✔ The BMC has set aside Rs 538 crore for setting up 7 sewage treatment centres.
✔ BMC to provide satellite phones to all 24 wards of Assistant Commissioner for smooth communication during emergency- disaster, provision is Rs 75 lakh.
✔ BMC to upgrade communication system of disaster control by setting up wireless communication budget of Rs 1.25 crore
✔ 97 female fire brigade officers have completed their training and will join the service soon.
✔ The Mumbai civic body plans to deploy floating trash brooms to stop floating garbage from the sea. These will be installed at Dahisar, Poisar, Oshiwara and the Mithi river.
✔ The Mumbai civic body proposes to install 381 sanitary napkin vending machines in schools, BMC chief Ajoy Mehta announced.
✔ The BMC has proposed Rs 1 crore for setting up e-libraries, which will be started on an experimental basis.
✔ BMC to set up Integrated Command and Control System with GPS and GIS. Budget provision is of Rs 5 crore for this year. Total project cost is Rs 26 crore.
✔ BMC proposes to build the state of the art Drill Tower cum Mutli-utility training simulator having facility for hot-fire training, confined search and rescue will be at Wadala for which budget provision is of Rs 1 crore
✔ BMC to set up organic waste converters in all civic markets for which budget provision is of Rs 12 crore.
✔ The issuance of licenses will be digital now for which Rs 96.04 crore been provisioned.
✔ BMC to modernize Deonar abattoir by this year. Budget provision remains the same at Rs 10 crore
✔ For fire compliance cell, BMC made provision of Rs 12.10 crore.
✔ BMC to give insurance coverage to all fire personnel, no premium to be paid by them.
✔ 100 % concession in the BEST non-AC buses for blind and differently-abled. 50 % concession to the senior citizen in the BEST non-AC buses.
✔ BMC provisions Rs 25 crore for textile museum. Total project cost is Rs 300 cr.
✔ Greenwheels along blue lines cycle track project Rs 100 crore provision.
Health budget hiked by Rs 325.09 crore to Rs 3,636.82 crore for 2018-19. Health budget to focus on improving infrastructure and hiring manpower.
✔ Rs 61 crore allotted for providing medicines and equipment in civic-run hospitals.
✔ Rs 16 crore allotted for procurement of 230 ventilators for major hospitals.
✔ Work on converting Sion Hospital into a 1,800-bed tertiary care facility to start as part of Rs 1,000 crore revamp.
✔ Work on Nair Hospital redevelopment, pegged at Rs 340 crore, to start this year.
✔ To treat congenital defects and developmental delays, an early intervention centre to be set up for special children at Nagpada.
✔ Rs 13.5 crore allotted to tuberculosis eradication programme for providing supplements and prevention kits.
✔ Rs 10 crore allotted to medical and dental colleges for foreign collaboration and student exchange programmes.
✔ Generic medicines and to start affordable treatment in hospitals, related equipment’s will be made available at all the dispensaries. For this, there is a provision of 61 crores.
✔ Renovation of 25 dispensaries in 2018-2019. The dispensaries will be well-equipped with the devices to tackle infections, diabetes and High BP.
✔ Mumbai’s TB hospital to get a 10-bed intensive respiratory care unit.
✔ State-of-art facilities in the hospital to make available the basic treatment for poor.
✔ Hostel at leprosy Hospital Wadala, Sion Koliwada and Haji Ali for KEM, Sion and Nair Hospital students
