BJP MPs to get social media training

-

In deference to Prime Minister Modi asking the BJP leaders to become Internet savvy and focus on the voters on the social media, BJP President Amit Shah has asked the party’s IT cell to train all party MPs – 276 in the Lok Sabha and 57 in the Rajya Sabha – with the skills on use of social media and different Apps, including the NaMo App.

The Prime Minister is himself a big votary of Facebook, Twitter and other social interactive media. He wanted every party MP to have substantial following on these media and have sufficient knowledge on how to effectively communicate on the different applications.

The IT cell at the BJP headquarters has drawn up a list of 52 trainers who will impart the social media skill to the party MPs during the second part of Parliament’s budget session that begins on March 5. The party sources said the training will enhance the party MPs’ skills in the comprehensive use of the social media to spread awareness about the government policies and programmes.

In one of the BJP Parliamentary Party meetings early this month, Prime Minister Modi had lamented that very few MPs respond to his morning greeting on the NaMo App, a mobile phone application designed to disseminate information about the government’s functioning and his programmes.

The tech-savvy Prime Minister connects with the citizens who want to interact with him through this App and exchanges ideas with them. He is a big promoter of e-governance, launching the ambitious MyGov project within two months of assuming the prime ministership. This App provides updates on the day-to-day activities of the Prime Minister and enables the citizens to receive messages and emails directly from Modi.

This App also provides an option to contribute and earn “badges” through to-do tasks on various social initiatives. It also provides various episodes of the PM’s ‘Mann ki baat’, read the PM’s blogs and get to know more about him from his biography section.

Apart from this App, Modi is also very active on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and it is to Modi’s credit that he is one of the most followed global leaders on Twitter.
