18 companies are in race for the 46,000 cr package

As man y as 18 constructi­on majors including Reliance Infrastruc­ture and L&T are in the race f or the pr oposed Rs 46,000-crore Nagpur-Mumbai Super Co mmunicatio­n Expressway pr oject, of ficial sources said on Wednesday.

The Maharashtr­a State Road De velopment Cor p (MSRDC), the nodal a gency for the project, opened the financial bid s submitted b y qualified contractor­s to construct 13 out of 16 packages of the 700-km long NMSCE.

Bids pr ocess f or the remaining thr ee packages is still under progress and wil l be announced la ter, the sources said.

A pet pr oject of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnav i s, the NMSCE, or Ma harashtra Samruddhi Mahama rg pr oject, will connect the state capital directly with a high-speed corridor to the second capital in eastern Maharashtr­a.

The 18 e ligible bidders ar e: Reliance Inf rastructur­e, Megha Eng & Infra Ltd, NCC Ltd, TPL CENGIZ JV, L&T Ltd, Sadbha v Eng Ltd, PNC Infratech Ltd, Afcon Infrastruc­ture Ltd, BSCPL GVPR Jv , N a vayuga Eng Co L td, APCO Inf ratech Pvt L td, IL&FS Transporta­tion Networks L td, KNR Constr uctions Ltd, Dilip Buildcon Ltd, Montecarlo L td, Ashoka Buildcon Ltd, Ga yatri Projects Ltd and Orie ntal Str uctural Eng Pvt Ltd.

“With the o pening of t he financial bids, we have achiev ed a milestone in the imple men- tation of the pr oject. W e ar e now very close to the historic moment of inau guration,” said MSRDC V ice Chair man and M anaging Dir ector Radheshyam Mopalwar.

Mopalwar ad ded that t he MSRDC will soon un dertake an e valuation of th e e ligible bids bef ore issuing the wo rk orders and it is expecte d that the constructi­on work for the NMSCE will begin within the next couple of weeks.

Till d at e, the state go vernment has acquired 80.25 per cent private and government lands against a total compensati­on of Rs 4,788-crore for this mega-project.
