Blatant lies by Jaitley: Cong

- OUR BUREAU /

The Congress has hit back at Minister without portfolio Arun Jaitley for churning out "blatant white lies and falsehood" in mocking at its President Rahul Gandhi's new love for the Other Backward Casts (OBCs) after being anti-OBC since 1990s that made them desert the party and recently it voted against a constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).

In a lengthy rebuttal, Congress chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala sought to correct Jaitley's "myopic memory" and "selective amnesia" on the OBCs, pointing out that it were his Bhartiya Janata Party that opposed the Mandal Commission report, both in and outside Parliament on the pretext that it would deepen the social divide among various communities."

He should also better know that it was the Congress government that implemented the Mandal Commission Report in its true sense by giving 27% reservation to the backward classes, Surjewala said, reminding Jaitley that it was the BJP that disbanded the National Commission for Backwards Classes and brought a half-baked and illconceived legislation for NCBC that remains a nonstarter even after four years of the Modi government.

Club this with the BJPruled Rajasthan and Haryana increased the reservation limit beyond 50% defying the Constitution and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat sought abolition of reservation that exposed the mindset of the BJP's fountainhead, Surjewala said, pointing out that the BJP backstabbed not only the OBC but betrayed the SC/ST atrocities Act by getting it diluted by the Supreme Court.

Surjewala said the Congress only wants to remind PM and Jaiyley that they ruined this country’s economy through their ‘MODINOMICS + “JAITLEYNOMICS’ and this country now needs a break from them!
